Things to do in kingennie - country sports

Angus provides a variety of fishing to suit all anglers tastes. Both the North and South Esk rivers provide excellent sea trout and salmon fishing and are very popular with experienced fishers. Loch, reservoir and trout farm fisheries abound for those who prefer to fish for brown or rainbow trout.

Arbroath (30 minutes from Dundee) is the main sea-angling centre. There are a number of angling charter boats operating from the harbour and a variety of excellent rock, cliff and beach marks to the north of the town. River South Esk enjoys good salmon and sea trout from early February till October. Brown trout fishing is available on the River Lunan and Rescobie Loch produces quality brown and rainbow trout.

Kirriemuir and the surrounding Glens offer a wealth of shooting activities. The hotel can arrange most types of shooting including driven, rough, mixed, duck and geese. The hotel has its own gun room, hanging room and drying area for those inevitably wet jackets and boots!

Angus is spoilt for choice for those who are interested in the sport of game shooting. This ranges from rough shooting of rabbit, hare, and pigeon to organised shoots for grouse, pheasant and geese. Roe and red deer stalking is available in the woodlands and moorland, which constitutes a greater part of the county.
